Is Snoring Disrupting your Quality of Sleep?

Snoring affects millions of people and their partners, disrupting the natural sleep cycle and impacting daily life. This common condition occurs when airflow is partially blocked during sleep, causing the soft tissues in your throat to vibrate. While occasional snoring might seem harmless, it can significantly affect sleep quality and may indicate an underlying serious condition called Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

Common Causes of Snoring:

Impact on Health and Lifestyle:

What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder characterised by repeated interruptions in breathing during sleep. These pauses in breathing can last from a few seconds to minutes and may occur multiple times per hour, preventing you from reaching deep, restorative rest.

There are three common forms of Sleep Apnea:

Central Sleep Apnea

Central Sleep Apnea

When the brain doesn’t properly signal your breathing muscles, leading to pauses or shallow breathing during sleep,

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)

The most frequent type, triggered by physical blockages in the airway caused by relaxed throat muscles.

Mixed Sleep Apnea

Mixed Sleep Apnea

A combination of both central and obstructive elements, requiring a specialised approach.

Say goodbye to breathing difficulties and fatigue

Wake up feeling more energised with the right assessment and treatment for sleep apnea. If you experience loud snoring, interrupted breathing during sleep, or persistent daytime tiredness, a proper evaluation can help identify the cause and recommend suitable treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Snoring is the sound caused by vibration of tissues in the upper airway during sleep. Sleep apnoea, particularly obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), is a medical condition in which the airway becomes narrowed or blocked repeatedly during sleep, causing breathing to reduce or stop for short periods. While snoring is a common symptom of OSA, not everyone who snores has sleep apnoea.

You should consider medical assessment if you have loud habitual snoring, witnessed pauses in breathing during sleep, choking or gasping at night, morning headaches, unrefreshing sleep, or persistent daytime tiredness. A review may also be important if you have high blood pressure or other health concerns together with symptoms suggestive of sleep-disordered breathing.

The most suitable treatment depends on several factors, including the severity of the sleep apnoea, your symptoms, the site of airway obstruction, your anatomy, and whether you are likely to benefit from non-surgical or surgical treatment. A specialist evaluation, and where needed a sleep study, helps determine the most appropriate treatment approach for you.

Many patients experience better sleep within the first few weeks, depending on the treatment and their individual response.
We offer non-surgical, minimally invasive strategies whenever possible. Discomfort is generally minimal and manageable.
It depends on your diagnosis, personal preferences, and overall progress. Some individuals only require short-term support, while others may benefit from ongoing use.
